What is the security email address?

The security email address is a secondary email address that you can associate with your LastPass account. The security email address is meant to be used to receive your LastPass multifactor authentication emails. Because the security email address is separate from ones that you use on a regular basis, and different than your account email address, its obscurity is intended to provide an extra layer of protection for your LastPass account. 

 

The security email address has also been used as a component in the security measures that require users to go through a "verification" process before fully re-enabling their LastPass accounts. If a user has set a security email address, the email to verify their account is sent there instead of to their account email address.

 

To enable a security email address, please go to your LastPass Icon > My LastPass Vault > Account Settings link > Security tab. You can type a valid email address into the "Security Email" field and confirm the update by entering your master password.
