What does clearing LastPass' Local Cache do?

How to Clear Local Cache: Click on the LastPass Icon > Tools > Advanced Tools > Clear Local Cache.

Clearing the Local Cache can help troubleshoot many issues where the Vault seems stuck. Clearing the Local Cache will also remove the following files from your computer:

  • Recovery One Time Password (OTP) - This is used to recover your account if you forget your Master Password
  • Offline Mode - gives you access to your LastPass Vault while not connected to the Internet
  • Favicons - these are the images you see next to each entry in your Vault that are unique to each website if the website provides one.

To recreate these files, log out and back in to your LastPass extension. This is especially important if you would like to have the back up Recovery OTP. It is highly recommended that you recreate these files immediately.
