Packaging Questions

Q: What is the difference between Free and Premium?  

A: In addition the functionality that Free users have, Premium customers will have the ability to share single items with more than one user, enable emergency access to their account, turn on advanced multi-factor options, and receive priority tech support from the LastPass team. 

 

Q: What is the difference between Premium and Families? 

A: LastPass Families includes unlimited shared folders between family members and a simple family dashboard where the family manager(s) can add and remove members. Purchasing Families also gives you access to 6 individual Premium licenses. 

 

 Q: Do I still get a shared folder to share with up to 5 other users as a Premium user? 

A: Yes, existing Premium users will maintain all legacy sharing capabilities, including the one shared folder. New customers who purchase Premium on or after August 3rd will not have a shared folder.  

 

Q: As a Free user, what happens to items I've shared with multiple people already?  

A: Items that you have previously shared with multiple shared with others will continue to be shared to those users and won't be limited to one share per item.  

 

Q: What happens to items in my shared folder if I become a Free user?  

A: When you move to a Free account, you’ll no longer have access to the shared folder and users who were invited to that folder will lose access, however those individual items will remain in your personal vault.  

Q: What happens to my emergency access contacts if I become a Free user? 

A: If you selected an emergency access contact(s) as a Premium customer, and then become a Free user, your emergancy contacts will remain and be able to request access to your account, as noted in your settings.

 

Pricing Questions

Q: When is the new Premium price going into effect? 

A: The new price for LastPass Premium will go into effect for new customers starting August 3rd. For existing LastPass Premium customers, the new price is effective September 1st and you will receive a renewal notification via email in advance of your renewal date.  

 

Q: Will I get a reminder before my subscription renews?  

A: Yes, all Premium customers will receive an automated email before their renewal date notifying them about their upcoming renewal. 

 

Q: Have the LastPass Premium features changed? 

A: We recently announced core improvements to our usability through more fillable items, faster saving, and a new intuitive design, which will be available to all LastPass users. Premium customers will also be grandfathered into the pre-existing Premium functionality and be given the opportunity to try Families for 6 months, free of charge. 

 

Q: How can I cancel my Premium account and get a Free account? 

A: We’re sorry to hear you want to move to Free. Please contact our customer support team and a rep will reach out to you shortly.
