Why does the Master Password field input extra characters when I login?

Right before submission, the Master Password is locally hashed. That hash is sent to the servers. After being hashed, the password field is replaced with a set number of x's like 'xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx'.  We do this because every time a Password is submitted, the contents of the Password field are stored in RAM. So if a hacker were to ever look in RAM, the Master Password would not be stored there.
