Save and autofill your passwords on Android

Remembering passwords is no easy feat, especially when you have 100s of them. It’s no surprise people rely on weak passwords and password reuse, but doing so poses serious cybersecurity risks. LastPass provides a safer solution, one that frees you from having to type out your passwords again.

LastPass save and autofill fills password fields for you so you can access your accounts with ease. Save a password once and LastPass will autofill it for you the next time you need to log in on your Android device.

All you need to do is download the LastPass app from the Google Play store and enable autofill in your Android mobile device’s settings. The next time you go to log in, whether in your web browser of choice (Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge) or native Android apps like Facebook, a notification from LastPass will appear above the password field. Tap the notification and your details will autofill.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get my Android phone to autofill passwords?

First, you’ll need to enable autofill within your Android’s settings. You can learn more about this – and avoid personal troubleshooting – via our autofill support article.

Once enabled, you can use autofill with ease. A pop-up will appear above the password field when you try to log in, whether you’re in a mobile app or web browser. Just tap on the pop-up and your information will be autofilled.

How to enable autofill in Android?

To enable password autofill on your Android, you need to access your phone’s Settings. Search for Autofill. Enable Autofill under Android Oreo and Legacy – this will enable the Android Autofill feature for apps that support Android Autofill and those that do not. Then you need to select LastPass as your primary autofill service.

Once completed, you’ll see a LastPass pop-up notification when logging in, which will present the corresponding credentials you need to log in. For a simpler user experience, you can enable Inline Autofill in your Android’s settings, which place your credentials at the top of your keyboard rather than appearing as a pop-up.

Where are my Android saved passwords?

If you’ve saved passwords to your Android device (say, a Samsung smartphone or Google Pixel) before using LastPass, they’re stored in your Google Password Manager account. Once you sign up for LastPass, you can seamlessly import passwords from your Google Password Manager to your LastPass password vault.

Going forward, any new password will be saved to your password vault. The next time you go to log in, your credentials and data will be autofilled from your password vault into the password field.
